Dana Levens: Founder & President
While studying toward her degree in Early Childhood Education, Dana worked in a childcare center with children between the ages of 6 weeks through kindergarten. Working through the ranks from teacher’s aide to lead preschool teacher, she was eventually offered the role of Assistant Director, and soon thereafter was given the title of Center Director. In that role, Dana was able to use her love for teaching young children along with her natural inclination to support others, by assisting the teachers with their lessons and curriculum implementation, and by creating and maintaining cooperative relationships with the families that the school served. Eventually, Dana and her husband relocated and had their first child, at which time she became a stay-at-home mom.
Currently, Dana is a passionate and enthusiastic community advocate and volunteer. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Dana assisted seniors in securing vaccine appointments with the Chester Covid Angels, and after the need for appointment assistance had waned, she partnered with 2 of the other “angels” to create a new group of volunteers who would begin their journey by creating a fundraiser for the teachers and staff of their entire school district. Thus, the official Chester Angels were born! The Angels have since grown to include Mendham, and they continue to expand their reach within the community, most recently by obtaining their 501c3 designation and becoming an official nonprofit organization.
When Dana is not working with the Angels or her other nonprofit called Common Thread, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their two children and their dog.

Michael McCarthy: Board Member
A semi-retired healthcare clinician, Mike has spent the last 25 years building healthcare agencies and medtech startups. Currently he is involved with an AI assisted bone regeneration company. Mike has advanced degrees from both Boston College and University of Miami.
Mike’s dedication to volunteerism stems from his sobriety which is approaching 35 years. His philosophy is simple…” Pay it forward if you can, do good things and Always try to be kind.”
His involvement with the “angels” began during the lockdown when neighbors in need couldn’t obtain vaccination appointments or needed transportation to doctor appointments. Mike was asked to join the BOD of the Chester-Mendham Angels by the founders, and he heartily accepted.
Mike is 12+ year resident of Chester Township. When he is not working, Mike can usually be found fly fishing on the Black River or hunting birds (upland and waterfowl alike) with his three Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. A huge supporter of local businesses and farms – Mike can usually be found drinking copious amounts of coffee at one Chester’s caffeine dispensaries or he will be at the Chester Public Library checking out the latest work of Historical Fiction.
